ROCHESTER, Minn. – Details of an urban rapid transit system have been unveiled, showing an enclosed hub at Saint Marys with a pedestrian tunnel to the hospital. There will be seven stations along a three-mile route. One terminus is a downtown loop, the other west at Cascade Lake Park. Project manager Jarrett Hubbard said commercial and residential “villages” can be expected to develop around each station. Downtown parking and other congestion will be relieved even as an expected 30,000 new people are working downtown by the year 2040, she said. The project is budgeted at $114 million and assumes federal assistance, Hubbard said.

Why drive? Be driven. Electric buses would run continuing loops a few minutes apart.
