MASON CITY, Iowa – A traveling carnival worker was sentenced to two days in jail and fined $860 for an assault at the Howard County Fair in Cresco in June. Terry Dale Harley Jr., 43 of Fort Worth, Texas, also was placed on supervised probation. Harley had pleaded guilty to pepper-spraying a carny supervisor. They spray also disabled a second person, who went to a hospital. Earlier Harley was fined $600 for approaching a man sitting on a bench, this on the midway circuit at the North Iowa State Fair in Mason City, also in June, and beating him in the face. The victim was a former employee whom Harley had fired.
