EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The cab of an 18-wheeler hauling batteries burst into flames and forced Interstate 94 to be closed at the Highway 53 interchange about 7 p.m. The driver escaped injury. The Wisconsin State Patrol tentatively blamed an equipment malfunction for the fire — not the batteries were closed about an hour.
