WASHNGTON – The U.S. Senate voted 65-33 to toughen background checks for the youngest gun buyers, to keep firearms from more domestic violence offenders, and to help states create laws so authorities can take weapons away from people adjudged dangerous. The bill, also, would fund local programs for school safety, mental health and violence prevention. The bill next goes to the House. The vote:
