WASHNGTON – Senator Tina Smith, D-Minn., said the $1.9 trillion relief legislation that President Joe Biden into law may seem like lot of money — which it is, more than any previous spending law – but, she said, it’s all needed. “This package I think is the right size to get Minnesota families back on their feet,” Smith told KWNO listeners. “Families are dealing with economic challenges. They’re behind on their rent, they can’t afford the food they need. They’re really struggling.” Smith singled out one of her pet projects, $40 billion for child-care funding. Daycare providers will be able to make improvements to their facilities. Smith also cited head-start programs, which she called “a lifeline for families.”
