MINNEAPOLIS – The Republican sex-ring scandal centered on man-about-town Anton Lazarro has ensnared two members of Congress and state Republican chair Jennifer Carnahan and others. According to campaign finance documents, Lazarro was a major contributor to political campaigns of:

> Jennifer Carnahan, state GOP chair and Congressman Hagedorn’s wife since 2018 and also a State Senate candidate in 2016.These contributions were to the state Republican party.

> Congressman Tom Emmer, who represents St. Cloud a northwest Twin Cities suburbs.

> Congressman Jim Hagedorn, who represents southern Minnesota.

> State Senator Karin Housley, R-Saint Marys Point, who had pondered a run for the U.S. Senate in 2018.

> Former State Representative Doug Wardlow, R-Prior Lake, who ran for attorney general in 2018 and lost and who again is seeking the position in 2022.

Since 2014 Lazarro’s largesse exceeded $78,000 at the state level, much of which went to the Minnesota party but also to candidates. There was nearly $36,000 in donations, mostly to Hagedorn or political organizations aligned with him.

Lazarro hardly a stranger

The Lazarro connections with Carnahan run deep. They co-hosted the Christian podcast TruthMatters from October 2019 until into January 2020. On his Facebook page, Carnahan’s spouse, Coigressman Jm Hagedorn,  posted a picture of himself, Carnahan and Lazarro hugging for the camera at Vikings football game. In 2018 Lazarro was in an elite group invited to Hagedorn and Carnahan’s private wedding in at the fashionable Canary Hotel in downtown Santa Barbara. California. Never media shy, Lazarro has been a frequent guest on Fox News. His social media presence flaunts his wealth.
