LACROSSE, Wis. – Three men slain Friday at a quarry in bluffs northeast of LaCrosse were killed inside a three-hour window, between 2 and 4:57 a.m., Sheriff Jeff Wolf said in a still sketchy reconstruction of what happened. It was at 4:57 that two quarry workers found the bodies. Wolf released photos of the three to hope that witnesses could help identify where they had been the day before they were killed. The photos showed them all in orange jail uniforms, confirming that they all had police records. Some surveillance video has surfaced showing them palling around during the day and evening in several LaCrosse business. It was also established that they had been staying at an Onalaska hotel. No vehicle was left at the quarry, suggesting the men were driven there.
