MAPLE GROVE, Minn. –  The chair of college Republican clubs statewide, Nia Moore, said that the fellow University of St. Thomas student who’s president of the campus GOP chapter can no long rely on her support. The campus president, Gisela Castro Medina, has been arrested on an FBI warrant related to sex trafficking. Responding to the arrest, Moore said she takes seriously the party’s stance of standing with victims of sex trafficking. “It would be incredibly irresponsible of me to not come out and support victims that were brave enough to come out against their abuser,” she said. Moore, of Maple Grove, has been state College Republicans chair since April. Earlier she was deputy campaign manager for Lacy Johnson, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2021 against incumbent Ilhan Omar. At St. Thomas, Moore majors in economics and political science.
