MANTORVILLE, Minn. – Six tenants trapped in a smoke-filled apartment building on the West Side were carried out by firefighters. At least one appeared in critical condition, officers said. The fire was reported about 6:30 a.m. at the 12-unit two-story Chestnut Apartments. Firefighters arrived within 10 minutes. Several first-responders were treated for smoke inhalation. Ambulatory tenants were sheltered in the nearby First Congregational Church. Others were rushed 20 miles to a Rochester hospital.
