WINONA, Minn. – Emergency entrances to the Winona hospital will be maintained during the massive upcoming reconstruction of Mankato Avenue, according to ambulance operations director Andy Teska. The construction zone, he said, may be confusing to motorists. If you see an ambulance, don’t brake reflexively or swerve into orange cones, he said in a KWNO radio interview. Just keep moving until it’s possible to pull off, Teska said. The project begins Monday on a 4,000-foot section of the congested medical and commercial district. Round-abouts will replace four intersections. A  fifth intersection will undergo heavy modification.

Construction. From Highway 61 to Sarnia Street. The project will take a year or so.
