WHITEHALL, Wis. – The Trempealeau County health public information officer, Kaila Baer, is advising people to stay home and cancel gatherings. The coronavirus disease is being driven by in-person gatherings, Baer said. The county, population 28,000, has recorded 1,692 cases and seven deaths. The county has no more contact-tracing capacity, Baer said. Throughout western Wisconsin, she said, medical facilities are overwhelmed and reporting impacts on their capacity to care for those hospitalized. “We are working under crisis standards of practice,” Baer said.
