MADISON, Wis. – With regrets Governor Tony Evers said there will be no holiday tree in the state Capitol rotunda, thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. This means the tradition of school children making and hanging ornaments will be skipped, he said. The governor asked children instead to make ornaments for veterans homes, hospitals and nursing homes. His suggested theme: Hope.

Closure indefinite

The Capitol has been closed to the public since March, when the pandemic took hold. It is expected reopen when he crisis abates.
