ST. PAUL, Minn. – Governor Tim Walz revised his two-year budget proposal, removing nearly $1 billion in proposed tax increases to reflect an improved state revenue forecast. The revision reduces new taxes to about $670 million. On spending, the revised Walz proposal expands tax relief to nearly $1 billion for families, renters, businesses and unemployed workers. Meanwhile, State Senate Republicans. who are in the Senate majority, have their own budget plan, which has no tax increases. House Democrats, who control the House, are still working up their proposal next week.
