ST. PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz on signed a bill to restore the voting rights of thousands of convicted felons once they leave prison — instead of after they complete parole. Walz called the bill “the largest expansion of voting rights in Minnesota in half a century.” The law goes into effect July 1. There are 21 other states Minnesota that automatically restore the right to vote for some or all ex-felons upon their release from prison.
