GREEN BAY, Wis. – The conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Libertysued the federal government for excluding white farmers from a new Covid loan forgiveness program for black and other socially disadvantaged farmers. The suit was in behalf of five white farmers from Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The program is a Biden Administration initiative. The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Green Bay, claims the plaintiff farmers have been denied equal rights. The plaintiffs, each with existing federal farm loans:
> Christoher Baird, Ferryville, Wisconsin, a dairy farmer with 50 Jerseys on 80 acres.
> Adam Faust. Chilton, Wisconsin, a dairy farmer with 200 Holsteins on 200 acres.
> Joseph Schmitz, northwest South Dakota, with 50 acres of corn a soybeans.
> Jay Slaba, western Ohio, with 350 beef cattle and 1,000 acres of corn.
> Jonathan Stevens, Rock Creek, Minnesota, with 25 beef cattle and 700 acres of soybeans and corn.

Faust. “There should absolutely be no federal dollars going anywhere just based on race. The economic impact from Covid didn’t hurt any race more than another as far as agriculture goes.”

Milwaukee law firm. Focuses on “the promotion of free markets, individual liberty, and a robust civil society.” Has fought to purge registered voters from voter rolls. Also against state requirements for face masks during the coronavirus pandemic.
