WINONA, Minn. – This fall’s Winona Schools enrollment, at 2,451, is down from 2,501. Although roughly a 1.6% drop, the new number is more than the school distr8ct’s budget planners had forecast, which was a decline approaching 1-1/2%. Responding to the enrollment, superintendent Annette Freiheit said that enrollment being s higher than what was budgeted for, the district’s revenue streams revenue streams are sufficient for the school year. Budget pressures have been somewhat in recent years by closing Madison and Rollingstone elementary schools.
