WINONA, Minn. – Volunteers from veterans’ organization will start a 24-hour vigil on Veterans Day, midnight to midnight, at Veterans Park by the Lake Winona bandshell. A formal public ceremony will be at 11 a.m. with special emphasis on veterans holding Purple Heart for battle wounds, organizers said. For the vigil, they said, veterans and non-veterans alike are welcome also to stand watch.
