MADISON, Wis. – Eyes everywhere were on the battleground state Wisconsin as early voting began for the 2022 general election. These are cliff-hanger races with national implications:
> U.S. Senate: Republican incumbent Ron Johnson of Fond du Lac seeking a third term. Democratic challenger: Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes of Milwaukee. A key contest for control of Senate.
> U.S. House: Democrat Brad Pfaff of La Crosse and Republican Derrick Van Orden, most recently of Prairie du Chien, seeking to succeed Ron Kind in western Wisconsin’s WI-3. A key contest for control of the House.
> Governor: Democrat incumbent Tony Evers of Madison seeking a second term. Republican challenger: Tim Michels of Brownsville.
