WINONA, Minn. – A Winona man accused of threatening to stab a woman in her eyes with a screwdriver was arrested later at his place. The woman told police that she had locked her door but Robert Allen Markwardt, 58, picked the lock. She said he threatened her with the screwdriver. When she tried to call 911, he took her phone and ran, she said. This was about 9:50 p.m. After finding him at his place, police began paperwork for charging Markwardt with domestic assault, second-degree assault, and interference with an emergency call.
