WINONA, Minn. – She sat down at work and realized that she had forgotten mediation in her car. In came Nicholas John Deppe, still in his coat. She asked him a favor — to go out to the car for the meds. She handed him he keys. He never came back. Four hours later, police spotted the car near Wabasha and Chestnut streets on the East Side. Deppe was nearby. Why did he take the car? Police said he explained that he needed to go for a drive to clear his mind. Deppe, age 23, was arrested on suspicion of felony theft of a motor vehicle.
