CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. – The body of 10-year-old Lily Peters, a fourth grader, was found just off the Duncan Creek walking trail around 9:15 a.m. Her bicycle was nearby. Police regarded the death as a homicide. The girl had pedaled from her aunt’s house on the end of North Grove, through the Leinenkuegel brewery parking lot, to the Duncan Creek trail. It was a route to her father’s house. She knew the trail well. The whole route has been sealed off by police. Police asked the community for tips. More than 200 came in, Police Chief Matthew Kelm said. Nearly 20 federal, state and local agencies were working the case, he said.
