PORTAGE, Wis. – Bond was set at $5 million for a Janesville man accused of killing a woman at a Wisconsin Dells hotel room. Jeremy Mondy, 34, said the death, on Sunday, was self-defense, but the judge at the bond hearing was moved by the victim’s family to keep Mondy locked up. Referring to previous domestic assault cases against Mondy, a sister of the victim said: “The last time he was given bail, it cost my sister her life.” Family members, also, expressed concern for their own safety if Mondy were allowed out of jail. Police found the body of the victim on a bathroom floort of a Vue Hotel unit. Mondy was charged with first-degree degree intentional homicide in a domestic dispute, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of bail jumping.
