WINONA, Minn. – The number of Winona COVID cases has dropped significantly in recent days. The county’s public health supervisor, Melanie Tatge, isn’t sure why but believes the drop reflects compliance with state restrictions on risky personal behavior. The county averaged nearly 49 new infections per day in November That fell to 30.3 over a two-week span beginning December 2. “It is a decline and that could be because of Executive Order 20-99, or because people were taking the proper precautions limiting their celebrations,” Tatge said in a KWNO radio interview. “If we can continue to do that, the holidays that are in this month and the new year we could continue to see that decline in the numbers which is what we are all hoping for.”
