MINNEAPOLIS – Police body-cam video of a fatal gunfire exchange Wednesday evening runs 27 seconds. Officers with guns drawn are aiming at a white car. Officers yell for people in the car to put their hands up. The car backs up and drives forward into two police vehicles. Officers shout more commands for the occupants to put their hands up. A single gunshot is fired. There is a hole in the front driver’s side window of the white car. The glass appears shattered outwards. Several more shots are fired into the driver’s side. The driver’s door window breaks. In all, about a dozen shots are fired.

Special police unit

Officers involved in the shooting were with a Community Response Team. The team deals with high-risk crimes, drug investigations and special situations. The team has focused in recent weeks on a surge of car-jackings.
