ST. PAUL, Minn. — Two state legislators, both Republicans, have gone to court to halt pay raises for state employees. In a lawsuit, Senator Mark Koran of North Branch and Representative Marion O’Neill of Maple Lake claimed the Minnesota Management and Budget agency didn’t have authority to give government employees a 2.5% raise in July. Their case was filed in Ramsey County District Court. O’Neill and Koran argue that the state’s collective bargaining agreement with state employees is invalid need approval from legislative chambers. The Senate gave no such approval, O’Neill and Koran note.
