DODGE CENTER, Minn. — The largest employer in Dodge Center, heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer McNeilus, plans to lay off 235 workers in coming months. More than 825 other employees will remain at the Dodge Center plant, the company said. The layoffs resulted from a decision by McNeilus’ parent company, Wisconsin-based Oshkosh Corporation, to consolidate manufacturing of its concrete mixers in Ontario. McNeilus will still produce trash collection vehicles at the company’s 146-acre Dodge Center industrial park. Also, the McNielus headquarters will remain in Dodge Center. The company was founded by brothers Garwin and Dennis McNeilus in 1970 and sold to Oshkosh in 1997.
