WINONA, Minn. – Joseph Foegen, a veteran business prof who arrived at Winona State University in 1958, died at age 93. He tracked alumni careers carefully and edited an eclectic newsletter, Business Brevities, that was peppered with asides and opinions. He had passions, including a historic Somsen auditorium organ that had fallen into disrepair. He spent decades raising money for repairs but never persuaded a string of university presidents to share his enthusiasm. As generations of his business students attest, he had little enthusiasm for the union movement, particularly for professionals. He held a doctorate in industrial relations, personnel and sociology. from the University if Wisconsin. He was a member of the intellectual honorary Phi Beta Kappa.
