WILLMAR, Minn. — A South Dakota man was arrested for the killing of a western Minnesota woman a woman who was stabbed 38 times in her home 46 years ago. The man, Algene Leland Vossen, was questioned at the time denied knowing anything about the slaying other than what was in the news and town gossip. He did admit, however, that he had been window peeping in Willmar – nothing more. Vossen, now 79, of Sioux Falls, was arrested based on new-technology DNA testing. Vossen was arrested at his home without incident. The victim of the homicide was Mae Herman of Willmar. She was 74.
