MADISON, Wis. –The Wisconsin Supreme Court has barred the state Elections Commission from purging the rolls of voters who possibly have moved. The to-purge list had 64,000 names. The Supreme Coty decision, 5-4, was a strike at Republican voter suppression initiatives aimed at cohorts of Democrat-leaning citizens. The Court said its concern was not much purging itself but that can be only at local levels — not the state level.
