HUTHINSON, Minn.– A police officer was dragged by a fleeing car and struck through the driver’s open window with a hammer. The officer was hospitalized in stable condition. Police gave this account: The episode began at a Menards super-hardware store about 1:50 p.m. There had been argument between a store employee and customer over a face mask. The man left but was spotted by officer Steven Sickmann in a nearby parking lot. After a slow-speed evasve chase, the man stopped near the Hutchinson Mall off Highway 15 and Freemont Avenue Southwest. The officer tapped the driver’s side window. The officer became trapped in the window. Yhe driver took off fast with the officer hanging onto the vehicle. During the struggle, the officer was struck in the head with a hammer.
