BROOKLYN, CENTER, Minn. — The Minnesota High School League asked state health officials to allow spring athletes to compete outdoors without wearing masks. Athletes would be required to wear masks between races, in the dugout, or standing on the sidelines. The initial response of state health Commissioner Jan Malcolm was cool: ″The risk is lower outside but not zero.″
