STILLWATER, Minn. — The 34th Military Police Company of the Minnesota National Guard, a 150-soldier unit based in Stillwater, departed for Guantanamo Bay Naval Base in Cuba for one year of duty. The send-off ceremony was at the Stillwater armory. The unit had been training for the deployment for a year, but the training was interrupted by activation in May for the unrest following police slaying of George Floyd’s in Minneapolis.
