DENMARK, Wis. – The Subway sandwich chain has added a Wisconsin cheese, BelGioioso fresh mozzarella from the village of Denmark, as a stack-it-on menu option. The cheese is at 40,000 Subway shops in the largest menu update in the chain’s history. Cheesemaker Sofia Auricchio Krans of BelGioioso couldn.t be more pleased: “Once they decided that quality was their leading direction, that’s when BelGioioso became a contender for what they’re doing.” The cheese js made with locally sourced milk in Denmark, southeast of Green Bay, and other plants. The sliced mozzarella is standard for Subway’s new Turkey Cali Fresh, which also features bacon and smashed avocado. The mozzarella can be added to any sandwich, salad or wrap.
