WINONA, Minn. – The Sobeck Brothers Farms up Gilmore Valley has been named the Farm Family of the Year for Winona County by the University of Minnesota.  The brothers, Gary and Jim, and the next generation Chris and Alex, milk 260 heifers three times a day with Lely robotic milkers. They raise their calves on their farm. Replacement animals grow up on farm. Steer calves go to a steer farm. The brothers grow corn, soybeans, alfalfa and barley. Crops that aren’t used to feed their cattle are dried and stored on the farm and then sold.
