LACROSSE, Wis. – The marketing director for Lee Enterprises’ Lacrosse-based newspapers, Paul Pehler, has been named president in the latest shake-up at the financially floundering chain. Pehler replaces Sean Burke, who had run the LaCrosse Tribune, the Winona Daily News, the Chippewa Falls Herald and several weeklies less than two years. In announcing Pehler’s appointment, Lee said without explanation that Burke was no longer with the company. Separately online Burke said he was proud of his accomplishments in LaCrosse, but he didn’t elaborate either. Burke didn’t announce career plans. Before Burke, Josh Trust headed Lee’s LaCrosse operation 1-1/2 years but left to take a marketing job with an Illinois casino vendor. Trust had headed Lee’s LaCrosse operation 1-1/2 years.
