WINONA, Minn. – Veteran City Council member Michelle Alexander confirmed tat6 she will ask for a recount of votes in the Winona primary. Alexander came in second in the original count but slipped to third by three votes in the official canvass. Only two candidates can proceed to the general-election ballot in November. The current count:

> Jovy Rockey, 1.654

> Scott Sherman, 1,261

> Michelle Alexander, 1,258

> Ted Hazelton, 300

With a difference of less than 0.5%, a candidate can request a recount at city expense. Election judges will conduct the recount, which will be done by hand.
