OSHKOSH, Wis. – The outgoing county executive in Outgamie County, Tom Nelson, is less than subtle in his campaign for the Democratic nomination for the U.S Senate. In a billboard he calls for incumbent Republican Ron Johnson to resign — and resign now. In a tweet directed to Johnson, Nelson said: “This billboard isn’t going anywhere, It’ll be here waiting for you when you go home. Resign now or I will defeat you in 2022.” Johnson is from Oshkosh. The billboard highlights the letters “R,” “O” and “N” in the word “treason.” Johnson’s greatest vulnerability, as Nelson sees it, is his unwavering support of ex-President Trump even after the J6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Billboards on the route from the Oshkosh airport into town run $500 to $2,500 a month.
