GARNER, N.C. — About 14,000 pounds of Butterball brand ground turkey has been recalled becauseof possible contamination by blue plastic that was never intended to edible, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. The turkey, in 40-ounce trays labeled “Farm to family Butterball all-natural ground turkey,” was distributed nationally, including in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. Butterball is owned by mega meat-processors Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms.
