MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice has hired a law firm to help handle claims related to water contamination by so-called “forever chemicals” that don’t break down through natural processes and kill living things. Yes, being carcinogenic, these PFAS chems kill people too. Expecting a raft id PFAS cases, the state has gone with the San Francisco environmental firm Sher Edling as outside PFAS litigation counsel, Governor Tony Evers said. Eleven law firms applied in a competitive bidding process, Evers said. The Sher Edling firm, he said, will help the state as it sues corporations responsible for PFAS contamination for money to support the communities impacted.
