CAMP DOUGLAS, Wis. – The commander of Volk Field Air National Guard base, Colonel Leslie Zyzda-Martin, was relieved of her command midway into an investigation of misconduct allegations. The state Guard’s deputy adjutant general, Brigadier General David May. made the announcement. Confidence in Zysa-Martin’s ability command had been lost, May said. . He offered no details except that the investigation was ongoing. As base commander, Zyzda-Martin oversaw facility infrastructure for activities under separate commands. These included the annual Northern Lightning tactical exercise for Air Force, Army, National Guard and Navy units from around the country.
