WINONA, Minn. – A Fire Department emergency crew freed a boat stuck on an underwater tree off Prairie Island. The rescue crew launched its own boat at the spillway ramp, attached a line to hung-up boat, and dragged it to deeper water. The boaters, who had thought themselves in distress, were able to return to the dock under their boat’s own power. This was all just after 12 noon.
