TREMPEALEAU, Wis.— Forecasters expected as much as four inches of snow in the evening – more than a month before solstice and the official start of winter. Temperatures peaked in the lower 30s, then retreated. Tentatively, depending on ice, the Upper Mississippi locks lock will remain open for shipping to November 29.
