ASHBY, Minn. – A chain-reaction crash with 70 to 80 vehicles shut down a section of Interstate 94 between Alexandria and Fergus Falls. Injuries were minor and treated 27 miles away at the Alexandria hospital. The State Patrol said 35 to 40 vehicles were disabled and had to be towed to clear the interstate. Another 30 or so vehicles were damaged but could be driven off, the Patrol said. The accident was near the Ashby exit ramps about 11:10 a.m. The pileup began when two vehicles collided on ice and snow and blocked the roadway.
