COOKE CITY, Mont. – Two snowmobilers from central Minnesota died in an avalanche on 10,300-foot Scotch Bonnet Mountain in Montana’s Absaroka Range. Killed were Jesse Thelen, 43, of Paynesville, and Carl Thelen, 40, of St. Martin. They were in a group of eight snowmobilers about mid-day. One of the men got stuck on a southeast slope and another man was trying to dig him out when the avalanche happened. Both were buried. The group used rescue equipment to find the men but were unable to revive them.
