WINONA, Minn. – The Winona Chamber of Commerce, which represents employers that are desperately short-staffed, has expanded is Project Reach to line up high-schoolers for jobs. Christie Ransom, the Chamber’s president, said the project now will include students in Winona’s private schools and outlying schools. Previously the project focused only on Winona, Lewiston-Altura and Wabasha-Kellogg schools. Also, Ransom said, the project has been relocated to Minnesota State College Southeast to connect students, teachers and businesses. The worker shortage, according to economists, is largely the result of weak starting salaries.
