MADISON, Wis. – The leader of Senate Democrats in the Wisconsin Legislature is leaving. Janet Bewley announced she won’t run this November. Why? To spend more time with her recently retired husband and grandchildren, she said. Bewley, of Mason in northern Wisconsin, has been in the Legislature since 2010, first in the Assembly and then to the Senate n 2014. She was elected Senate minority leader in 2017, replacing Jennifer Schilling, who chose not to seek re-election to her LaCrosse seat. Bewley’s role will be filled by fellow Senate Democrats when they next caucus 2023 session.

Assembly change too
State Representative Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, announced in December that he would resign as Assembly minority leader. Assembly Democrats picked Greta Neubauer, D-Racine, as their new leader.
