ST. PAUL, Minn. — As constitutionally required, Governor Tim Walz ordered a primary election for May 24 for the MN-1 congressional seat left vacant by the death of Jim Hagedorn. The primary is the nomination opportunity for political parties. There then will be a special selection August 9 to determine who goes to Washington for the remaining five months of Hagedorn’s term.
