LACROSSE, Wis. – Mayor Mitch Reynolds sees no chance that Valley View Mall in suburban Onalaska will close despite drawn-out financial problems that led to foreclosure. The mall was sold at a sheriff’s auction this week for less for less than half its valuation, but it remains open. The new owner’s intention was not announced. Nor was the owner’s identity disclosed.  But the buyer must has something in mind for the “bid. bid. i’s sold” price of $13.2 million. Said the mayor: “This is really a change in ownership that provides an opportunity.”
