SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. – A Sheboygan Falls woman was arrested for the fatal beating of her 8-year-old son. The boy, Oliver Hitchcock, died at a Milwaukee hospital. There had been a pattern of beatings, police said. The boy was beaten unconscious March 30 at the family’s apartment. The mother was arrested outside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, which was treated at a hospital. Police have withheld her name pending the filing of charges, which they said probably would include first-degree intentional homicide. Also, based on witness accounts of previous beatings, there probably will be a count of attempted intentional homicide, police said. The boy was taken unresponsive to the Sheboygan hospital, then transferred to Children’s’s Hospital in Milwaukee, where he died. Police Chief Eric Miller in Sheboygan Falls said the boy’s father, a long-distance trucker, was home at the time of the assault and called 911 and then rendered life-saving measures.
