GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. – A high-speed police chase ended when the pursued car burst into flames. The driver crawled out, his hands in the air, and was arrested. He was identified initially only as 18 years old. Thee chase began with a report of several shots before 6 a.m. in the west Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Park. Nine miles later on Highway 100 in Golden Valley, police stopped the vehicle. The vehicle caught fire. The driver exited the vehicle with his hands in the air and was detained. An officer, meanwhile, tried to douse the fire with an extinguisher, but the car became fully engulfed. Later, police said, they found a gun in the remaining hulk. Also it turned out, the car was stolen, polce said. There were no injuries.

End of chase. The driver got out as the smoke and flames engulfed the vehicle.
